Record Store Day 2014 LP and DVD, Numbered Edition of 1,500

This Record Store Day 2014 set pairs Some Something, a ten-song LP of Grant Hart recordings, with Every Everything: The Music, Life & Times of Grant Hart, Gorman Bechard's documentary, on DVD. Copies are hand-numbered out of 1,500 on the back of the jacket, and the sticker on the shrink wrap calls it "a collection of Grant Hart rarities & the documentary of his life." A download code for the LP tracks is included. MVD Audio issued it with Con D'Or and Red Seal Records under catalog number MVD6236LP.

The record label prints the source of each song. "Now That You Know Me" and "Roller Rink" are from Intolerance, Hart's first solo album. "2541" and "Ballad #19" come from Ecce Homo, "California Zephyr" and "Charles Hollis Jones" from Hot Wax, and "Little Nemo" and "Nobody Rides for Free" from Good News for Modern Man, here in masters by Bob Westin. "Wheels" and "Khalid" are marked as unreleased. Adam Boose cut the lacquers at Well Made Music.

Bechard, who also directed Color Me Obsessed, built the 93-minute film from long interviews with Hart, set against handbills, posters and concert footage. It follows him from a St. Paul childhood through the founding of Hüsker Dü with Bob Mould, the band's split, and the solo work and projects that came after. "2541" takes its name from the address of Hüsker Dü's office and rehearsal space, and the cover photograph puts Hart beside a dumpster stenciled with that number.
