Gun Metal Grey Vinyl LP, Remastered

Real Gone Music's edition of Concrete puts the album on a single LP of gun metal grey vinyl, remastered for the format, with sixteen tracks split eight to a side. The label calls it the album's first-ever LP release, and says two sets of liner notes come with it. The catalog number is RGM-1930.

Concrete was meant to be Fear Factory's first album. The band made it with producer Ross Robinson at Blackie Lawless's Fort Apache studio in Los Angeles, in a week, on a budget of about $5,000. When the band turned down the deal Robinson offered them, the album was shelved: Robinson kept the master tapes and the band kept the songs. A tape of the sessions helped Fear Factory sign to Roadrunner Records, and Robinson went on to produce Korn.

Eight of the songs were re-recorded for the 1992 debut, Soul of a New Machine, among them "Big God/Raped Souls," "Crisis" and "Self Immolation." "Concrete" came back as "Concreto," a B-side from the Demanufacture period, and "Soulwomb" became "Soulwound." Five, including "Echoes of Innocence" and "Ulceration," were never recorded again; "Ulceration" takes its name from the band's original name. Roadrunner bought the master tapes from Robinson and released the album in 2002, after the band had split.

Burton C. Bell sings, Dino Cazares plays guitar, Raymond Herrera plays drums and Andy Romero is credited on bass. The band's first bassist, Dave Gibney, speaks the introduction to "Big God/Raped Souls." Eddy Schreyer mastered the original release at Oasis Mastering.
