Limited Edition CD in Digipak

Dromedary Records lists this compact disc as a limited edition in digipak artwork, catalog number DRM086-2, carrying all ten tracks of E.L.F. on one disc at about 34 minutes. Stephen Hunking and Chris Xefos produced the album, and Amy Dragon mastered it at Telegraph Mastering.

Hunking has recorded as Dew Claw for more than twenty years, mostly as a solo project, after time in Hypnolovewheel, Grand Union and XL Kings. Xefos, known from King Missile, MX-80 Sound and Rattletrap, had produced some songs on the previous Dew Claw record and mastered it, and the pair decided to build a whole album together from the ground up. Their touchstone was the stretch when The Move turned into Electric Light Orchestra. Speaking to Rock and Roll Globe, Hunking called the opener, "Escape Velocity," the song on the record most heavily shaped by ELO.

The guests were gathered from several cities and countries: Arne Kjelsrud Mathisen of Rural Tapes, Frode Strømstad of I Was a King, Dave Rick of King Missile, Kurt Bloch of the Fastbacks, Gary Olson of The Ladybug Transistor, Alison Faith Levy of The Loud Family and Dave Ramirez of Hypnolovewheel, with Tim Somminds and Mouse also credited. Hunking wrote every song except "Wall" and "You Are Not Alone," both co-written with Strømstad, and "Rescue Dog," co-written with Xefos. "Wall" went out first as a single, with a video directed by Danny Plotnick.

The flower-crowned figure on the cover is an old elf-head cookie jar that became a vase when its lid broke. It is the mascot of Mooncake Flower Farm, which Hunking runs with his partner Annie in Camas, Washington, the same town this shop calls home. Annie Chia took the front-cover photograph and Plotnick the back. Dromedary, an independent label in Kingston, New York, has been releasing guitar-based rock since 1993; Xefos has said he knew from label head Al Crisafulli's posts that Crisafulli was a Hypnolovewheel and King Missile fan before sending him the work in progress.
