Remastered 180g Black Vinyl LP in Gatefold Jacket

This is the 2025 Mute/Columbia vinyl reissue of Music for the Masses, catalog number 19802841121, issued on April 4, 2025. It is a single remastered LP pressed on 180-gram black vinyl and housed in a gatefold jacket, with raised, spot-varnished printing on the front cover. The ten tracks run five to a side.

Music for the Masses was Depeche Mode's sixth studio album, first released on September 28, 1987 by Mute in the UK and Sire in the US. The band co-produced it with David Bascombe, and it was the first Depeche Mode album on which Alan Wilder took control of the production. Sessions began at Studio Guillaume Tell outside Paris, moved to Konk in London, and finished with mixing at Puk in Denmark.

The album reached No. 10 in the UK, No. 35 in the US and No. 2 in West Germany, and was certified platinum in the US in 1991. Four singles came from it: "Strangelove", "Never Let Me Down Again", "Behind the Wheel" and "Little 15". The 1987-88 tour that followed ended at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, in front of more than 70,000 people, and that show was captured on the live album and film 101.

The video above is "Never Let Me Down Again", which opens side A and was issued as the album's second single in August 1987. Martin Gore wrote it, Alan Wilder arranged it, and Anton Corbijn directed the clip.
