180-Gram Black Vinyl LP In Gatefold Jacket

This is the standard vinyl edition of Good Luck With Whatever: one 180-gram black LP in a gatefold jacket with a printed inner sleeve, issued by Rounder Records under catalog number 1166101019. The front-cover sticker repeats that number beneath a "Produced by Dave Cobb" credit. Pete Lyman mastered the album at Infrasonic Sound, and the nine songs are split five on side A and four on side B. The marbled and opaque color runs sold through the band's own store and independent shops were separate limited pressings; this black LP is the reference edition.

Released on October 2, 2020, it is the seventh studio album from the Los Angeles band and their first for Rounder, following a series of self-released records that closed with Passwords in 2018. Dave Cobb produced and mixed the sessions at RCA Studio A in Nashville, with Toby Hulbert engineering. The album runs just under forty minutes.

The lineup is Taylor Goldsmith on guitar and lead vocals, his brother Griffin Goldsmith on drums and percussion, Wylie Gelber on bass and Lee Pardini on piano and organ. Taylor Goldsmith wrote the songs, sharing credit on two of them: "Who Do You Think You're Talking To?" with Blake Mills and Matt Sweeney, and the closing "Me Especially" with Jim James.

"Who Do You Think You're Talking To?" arrived first, on July 22, 2020, the day the album was announced, with a video directed by Caitlin Gerard. "St. Augustine at Night" and "Still Feel Like a Kid" followed as singles in August. The album peaked at No. 44 on Billboard's Top Rock Albums chart.
