Black Vinyl 2LP, 45 RPM, Tip-On Jacket

Everyday reaches vinyl here for the first time, twenty-five years after the album first appeared on CD. This edition cuts it as a two-record set at 45 RPM, three songs to a side, on black 140-gram vinyl, and houses it in a tip-on jacket. The release carries the RCA, Legacy and Bama Rags names under catalog number 19958432371 and was issued in the US on July 24, 2026.

The album began somewhere else. Sessions with longtime producer Steve Lillywhite in the summer of 2000 were abandoned, and Dave Matthews flew to Los Angeles to work with Glen Ballard instead. The two wrote an album's worth of new songs in under two weeks. Ballard co-wrote all twelve and produced the record, the band's first with him, at Conway in Hollywood between October and December 2000. Electric guitar and concise pop arrangements moved to the front, marking a shift in the band's sound. Most of the shelved Lillywhite material was re-recorded for Busted Stuff in 2002.

Carlos Santana plays electric guitar on "Mother Father," and Vusi Mahlasela sings background vocals on the title track. Chris Lord-Alge mixed the album, Bob Ludwig mastered the original release, and Danny Clinch took the cover photograph.

RCA released Everyday on February 27, 2001. It became the band's second consecutive number one on the Billboard 200 and its first number one in Canada, and the RIAA has since certified it triple platinum. Lead single "I Did It" peaked at 71 on the Hot 100 and reached number one on the Adult Alternative chart; its video, embedded above, was directed by Dave Meyers. "The Space Between" became the band's first US top 40 hit, peaking at 22, and the title track held the top of the Triple A chart for eight weeks, the band's longest run there until "Funny the Way It Is" in 2009.
