Black Vinyl 2LP in Gatefold Sleeve With Etched Side D

Ipecac Recordings pressed Endangered Philosophies as a two-record set on black vinyl, catalog number IPC194LP, housed in a gatefold jacket. The eleven tracks run across sides A through C; side D carries no music and is etched with artwork instead. A download coupon for the full album is included in the package.

The record marked Dälek's return to Ipecac, which had issued four of their earlier full-lengths. Formed in Newark, New Jersey in 1998, the group was on hiatus from 2011 to 2015, came back with Asphalt for Eden on Profound Lore in 2016, and was re-signed by Ipecac that December. The label's 2017 announcement called this the trio's fifth Ipecac release and seventh album overall, with MC Dälek on vocals and production, Mike Manteca on production and live electronics, and DJ rEk on turntables. Ipecac co-founder Greg Werckman said at the time that Dälek, along with the Melvins and Isis, helped form the foundation of the label.

Per the gatefold credits, the songs were written and produced by Dälek (Will Brooks) and Mike Manteca, with all cuts by DJ rEk. Recording and mixing took place at Deadverse Studios III in Union City, New Jersey, and mastering at West Westside Music in New Windsor, New York. Metz appears as a guest, and former member Joshua Booth adds keyboards to "Echoes Of..." and "The Son Of Immigrants."

PopMatters' Spyros Stasis called the album an "enticing and alluring" mix of hip-hop, krautrock, noise and shoegaze, and AllMusic's Paul Simpson found it "equally abrasive and hypnotic."
