Indie Exclusive Neon Orange Vinyl

Curió Curió's self-titled debut album came out on Mr Bongo on July 24, 2026, and this neon orange LP, catalog number MRBLP343NO, is the edition allocated to independent record stores. Five songs sit on side A and six on side B, and a printed insert carries the Portuguese lyrics alongside English translations.

The project began when Luiza Monteiro, a singer and actress born in Rio de Janeiro and living in Austria, met the German producer Dustin Braun. In the duo's own words, the music "is not straight disco, not straight samba, not strictly old-school but inspired by all of them, creating something contemporary but still nostalgic." Mr Bongo's notes name Gal Costa and Jorge Ben Jor as influences, along with the more recent Say She She and Bala Desejo.

Braun recorded and mixed the album using tape, ribbon microphones and live ensemble takes, and the back cover credits more than a dozen musicians, with flute, alto saxophone, trumpet, vibraphone and a choir among the parts. The Joker mastered it. Monteiro's lyrics, written as a Brazilian living in Europe, explore identity, culture and belonging; the label translates a line from "Raiz" as "I value a burning sun and the cold in the air. Constant change is my companion." "Bem Querer" and "Amor Doente" were issued together on a 7-inch single in April 2026, ahead of the album.
