Orange Smoke & Marbled Vinyl LP, Limited To 350 Copies

High Roller Records' 2026 reissue of R.I.P. (catalog HRR 1086LP-MARBLED) is pressed on orange smoke and marbled vinyl in an edition of 350. The audio was remastered and restored by Patrick W. Engel at Temple of Disharmony in February 2026 and cut by SST Germany on Neumann lathes. The LP comes in a 425gsm heavy cardboard jacket with a 6mm spine, with a lyric sheet, a 4-page A4 booklet, an 8-page 12-inch booklet, an A5 photo card, a double-sided A1 poster and a 580 x 580mm poster of the album cover.

R.I.P. is the debut album by the Zurich trio Coroner, first issued by Noise Records on June 1, 1987. The band had circulated the Death Cult demo in 1986 with Celtic Frost's Tom Gabriel Fischer on vocals and lyrics; after signing to Noise in early 1987, bassist Ron Royce took over as lead singer. Noise founder Karl-Ulrich Walterbach booked time at Music Lab in Berlin, where the band recorded in March 1987 with Harris Johns, who co-produced with Coroner and engineered and mixed the sessions.

The lineup was Ron Royce (Ron Broder) on bass and vocals, Tommy T. Baron (Tommy Vetterli) on guitars and Marquis Marky (Markus Edelmann) on drums. "Reborn Through Hate" carries guest vocals from Fischer, and the label notes that the band still plays it live regularly. "Spiral Dream" returns from the Death Cult demo, now sung by Royce, with lyrics credited to Tom G. Warrior. The introduction to "Totentanz" is an arrangement by A.M. Siegrist of a bourrée from Robert de Visée's Suite No. 9 in D minor. Marquis Marky designed the cover and took its photographs. Looking back, Vetterli has said that the sound "could have been better, but that wasn't really the fault of the producer," and that the band was "always kind of pushing ourselves to the limit of what we could do."
