Indie Exclusive Fist In The Gold Vinyl

Fist In The Gold is the independent record store edition of Hum of Hurt, a single LP on gold vinyl issued by Deathwish as DW267, in a run of 5,000 copies. Side A holds the first six songs, through "It's Not Up to Us," and Side B opens with "Dream Debris," at six minutes the longest track here.

Jacob Bannon has said the starting idea for both of Converge's 2026 albums was a noise rock record, and that neither one fully became that. In his account this one carries more of that spirit and leans toward emotional hardcore, while Love Is Not Enough, released four months before it, is the more metal-leaning of the pair.

Two songs arrived with a history. "I Won't Let You Go" first appeared in the 2020 video game Cyberpunk 2077; that version was assembled from drums Ben Koller tracked in California, and the band recut it for this album. "Dream Debris" started from a single bass note and was built around Nate Newton's bass tone. The title track, the video above, was released as the first single.

For the front cover, Bannon pictured a heartbeat trace breaking into static and cut through by a seismic event, and the UK artist Thomas Hooper drew it using scientific diagrams as his reference. Alan Douches mastered the record at West West Side Music, and the vinyl was pressed by GZ Media.
