Limited Edition Eco Cherry Vinyl With A2 Poster

Conflict's 1983 animal-rights EP gets its first 12-inch pressing here, on Cadiz Music (catalog number CADIZ12340). It plays at 33 1/3 RPM on red eco vinyl, which the band calls Eco Cherry, and comes in a black inner sleeve. The run is limited to 500 copies worldwide. An A2 poster of the original artwork is included.

The two sides do different jobs. Side A is a new mix by Gav King, Conflict's guitarist for the past 18 years, made from the original multitrack tapes. It closes with "Decomposing Dub," a reworking of "Meat Still Means Murder!". Side B is the 1983 mixes, remastered by Sid Truelove of Rubella Ballet from the original quarter-inch tapes. After them come three early mixes found on a separate tape and never released before.

The tapes came back to the band after the death of John Loder, whose Southern Studios in London is where the songs were recorded and mixed in April 1983. Colin Jerwood and Gav King had the reels baked and digitized, planning to remix them once the band's new album was out. Jerwood died in 2025 before that work began, and King finished it. Truelove was one of Jerwood's closest friends.

The original 7-inch came out in October 1983 on Corpus Christi Records and reached number 4 on the UK Indie Chart. Steve Ignorant, then the singer of Crass, guested on it, and he later became Conflict's second vocalist until the mid-1990s. Conflict formed in Eltham, South London, in 1981. A 2016 anarcho-punk primer in The Wire said the band "came to replace Crass as anarcho-punk's ethical template." Cadiz Music issued this record alongside a new 12-inch of The House That Man Built, the band's 1982 debut EP on Crass Records.
