Transparent 180 Gram Vinyl, Limited Edition of 1,500 Numbered Copies

This is the Music On Vinyl edition of Common's debut, issued in Europe in 2019 under catalog number MOVLP2321: one LP on transparent 180-gram vinyl, limited to 1,500 individually numbered copies. Each jacket carries its own number on the back cover, and the gold sticker on the front names the singles "Take It EZ" and "Breaker 1/9." The back cover states that the record was manufactured and distributed by Music On Vinyl B.V. for Sony Music Entertainment, and the Relativity logo stays on the artwork.

Can I Borrow a Dollar? first came out on Relativity Records on October 6, 1992, when he was still recording as Common Sense. The jacket credits production and arrangement to Immenslope (later known as No I.D.) and the Twilite Tone for 2pc. DRK Productions, apart from "Heidi Hoe," which the Beatnuts produced. Immenslope appears on "Two Scoops of Raisins," Rayshel on "Tricks Up My Sleeve," and Tarsha Jones sings background vocals on "Puppy Chow." The players listed include Lenny Underwood on keyboards, Kenny Aaronson on bass and Tony Orbach on saxophone for "Take It EZ." Sessions ran at Calliope Studios, Unique Studios and East Side Sound. Kirk Yano mixed all but two tracks at Soundtrack N.Y., and Chuck Valle mixed "No Defense" and "Just in the Nick of Rhyme" at Chung King.

"Take It EZ" reached No. 5 on the Hot Rap Singles chart, with "Soul by the Pound" at No. 7 and "Breaker 1/9" at No. 10. AllMusic's Stanton Swihart credits the album with putting Chicago hip hop on the map.
