Loser Edition Metallic Silver Vinyl 2LP

This is the Loser Edition of Splendor & Misery (Anniversary X), Sub Pop's tenth-anniversary double LP, pressed on metallic silver vinyl under catalog number SP1752 and housed in revised artwork. It carries the original 15-track album plus eight previously unreleased songs and alternate takes, among them theremin-and-piano and instrumental versions of "Long Way Away," a harp version and a demo of "Story 5," and the songs "Where Shall I Go" and "Distant Radio Freestyle." Sub Pop notes that the vinyl color may differ slightly from its images.

Splendor & Misery was first released on September 9, 2016, by Sub Pop and Deathbomb Arc, as clipping.'s second full-length for Sub Pop after CLPPNG. William Hutson and Jonathan Snipes produced it, and Daveed Diggs wrote and performed the lyrics. The label's notes describe an Afrofuturist concept album following the sole survivor of a slave uprising on an interstellar cargo ship and the onboard computer that falls in love with him, with the music mapping the ship's decks, hallways and quarters. The gospel group Take 6 appears on several tracks.

The album was nominated for the 2017 Hugo Award for Best Dramatic Presentation, Short Form, the second music album nominated in that category after Paul Kantner and Jefferson Starship's Blows Against the Empire. It reached No. 2 on Billboard's Heatseekers Albums chart, and Pitchfork placed it on its 2019 list of the best industrial albums of all time. The band marked the anniversary in August 2026 with the Splendor & Misery Fest at Knockdown Center in New York. "Baby Don't Sleep," the first single, arrived with its video on July 26, 2016; the official video is embedded above.
