This is Buddha as a picture disc: a single LP printed with the album art and housed in a clear PVC sleeve, on Kung Fu Records. Side A holds the first seven songs, through "21 Days," and side B the other seven, ending with "Don't."
The recordings date to January 1994, when the band, then called Blink, spent three evenings at Doubletime Studios in Santee, California, with engineer Jeff Forrest. Mark Hoppus and Tom DeLonge traded lead vocals, with Scott Raynor on drums. A friend, Pat Secor, paid for the session and released the tape on cassette through his own Filter Records, and the band sold it through San Diego record stores and at shows. It was their first recording to be sold and distributed.
"Carousel" was later included on the band's debut album, Cheshire Cat, in 1995. Kung Fu Records, founded in 1996 by members of The Vandals, acquired the recordings that year and issued a remixed version in 1998, and the label's video for "Carousel" is above. "The Girl Next Door" is credited to Screeching Weasel.
