Single Vinyl LP With Printed Lyric and Credits Sheet

This is Southern Lord's single-LP edition of A Gaze Among Them, catalog number LORD268, the fourth studio album from the Montreal band Big Brave. Five tracks are spread across two sides, and three of them run past eight minutes. Pressing was done at GZ Media, and the jacket holds a printed inner sheet with the lyrics and full credits.

The album was recorded and mixed with Seth Manchester at Machines with Magnets in Pawtucket, Rhode Island, in December 2018, and additional overdubs were tracked at Hotel2Tango in Montreal. Harris Newman mastered it at Grey Market Mastering. Robin Wattie (vocals, guitar) and Mathieu Ball (guitar) were joined by Loel Campbell on drums, who came in after founding drummer Louis-Alexandre Beauregard left in 2018. Thierry Amar of Godspeed You! Black Emperor and Thee Silver Mt. Zion plays contrabass, and Manchester adds Moog synthesizer.

Southern Lord describes the band's work as organized around space, volume and raw emotion, and Norman Records' notes describe this record as a return to minimalism, tension, space and voice. "Sibling," the closing track, was the first song released ahead of the album, with a video made by Ball and Wattie. Campbell was unable to tour, so Tasy Hudson took over on drums for the 2019 dates, which included Western US runs with Deafkids and Sunn O))). The band's next album, Vital (2021), was the first of three to make the Polaris Music Prize longlist.

Chargebacks & Payment Disputes

We strongly encourage customers to contact us directly with any concerns before filing a credit card dispute or chargeback.

Once a dispute or chargeback has been initiated, we are unable to proceed with refunds, replacements, or reshipments until the case is fully resolved. Resolution timelines are controlled by the payment processor and can take up to 120 days.
