Clear Vinyl LP, 40th Anniversary Edition

Transgressive's 40th anniversary edition of Keyboard Fantasies is a single LP pressed on clear vinyl, catalog number TRANS460XF. The label notes new artwork in a different color palette and carries over the liner notes Robyn wrote for the previous reissue, and it describes this as only the third time the album has been repressed, in quantities as limited as before. A recently discovered recording from the same period, "Light Of The Heavens," was issued alongside it on a limited 7".

Glenn-Copeland made the album in 1986 in rural Ontario, where he had taught himself digital synthesis, using only a Yamaha DX7 and a Roland TR-707 drum machine. It was recorded at Audio-Logic Recording Studio in Huntsville, Ontario, with Colleen Veitch engineering and mixing, and he self-released it on cassette in a run of 200, of which only a handful sold. He has said that "the woods and lakes of Northern Ontario were my deepest inspiration."

In December 2015 the Japanese collector Ryota Masuko wrote to ask for copies to sell. Glenn-Copeland sent 30, then 30 more, then the rest of his stock, and each batch sold out; offers from ten labels followed, leading to vinyl editions on Invisible City Editions and Séance Centre and to Transgressive's 35th anniversary edition in 2021. Posy Dixon's 2019 documentary Keyboard Fantasies: The Beverly Glenn-Copeland Story follows his first tour, and at the 2020 Polaris Music Prize the album was the public-vote winner of the Heritage Prize. Resident Advisor's Andrew Ryce called it "modest but stunning."
