Black Inside Grimace Purple Inside Transparent Highlighter Yellow Double Vinyl

This pressing spreads Colors II across two LPs, each one a color-in-color disc: a black core, a ring of Grimace purple, and an outer band of transparent highlighter yellow. Sumerian Records issued it on October 8, 2021, seven weeks after the album itself came out on August 20. The record runs close to 79 minutes, so each side carries three tracks, and the 15-minute closer "Human Is Hell (Another One with Love)" takes up the end of side D.

Colors II is the tenth studio album by the North Carolina progressive metal band, and a direct sequel to Colors, their 2007 album for Victory Records. It was recorded in 2020 at The Basement Studios in Winston-Salem with Jamie King, who also produced the original. Jens Bogren mixed it and Tony Lindgren mastered it. Sumerian's notes point out that "Monochrome" and "The Double Helix of Extinction" hide easter eggs for listeners who know the first record, and that "Bad Habits" calls back to lyrics from "Ants of the Sky."

The first single, "Fix the Error," came out in June 2021. It has drum solos from Mike Portnoy, Navene Koperweis and Ken Schalk, and Tony Celano animated its video. The album reached No. 10 on the UK Rock & Metal chart and No. 24 on the UK Independent chart, and also charted in Germany, Switzerland and Scotland. PopMatters ranked it first on its list of the best progressive rock and metal albums of 2021. It was the band's second and last album for Sumerian, and the last to feature rhythm guitarist Dustie Waring alongside Tommy Rogers, Paul Waggoner, Blake Richardson and Dan Briggs.

Chargebacks & Payment Disputes

We strongly encourage customers to contact us directly with any concerns before filing a credit card dispute or chargeback.
