Limited Edition Box Set of Three 12-Inch EPs

This limited edition box holds all three How To Solve Our Human Problems EPs on 12-inch vinyl. Each part has its own picture sleeve and its own catalog number (OLE-1194-1, OLE-1195-1 and OLE-1196-1), and the outer box carries the US catalog number OLE-1123-1. The box also includes an exclusive poster with 80 photographs of Belle and Sebastian fans from around the world.

The faces on the sleeves are fans. The band invited them to a studio in Belsize Park, North London, where Stuart Murdoch photographed them. Fifty were chosen, and each one was also recorded answering the question "How do you solve your human problems?" On the US edition, the back of the box lists the cover stars by name.

The format goes back to 1997, when the band put out three EPs in a row: Dog On Wheels, Lazy Line Painter Jane and 3.. 6.. 9 Seconds Of Light. Matador issued the new trilogy one part at a time. Part 1 came out on December 8, 2017, Part 2 on January 19, 2018, and Part 3 on February 16, 2018, the same day as this box and the CD compilation.

The fifteen songs were recorded across 2016 and 2017, and Murdoch is not the only songwriter. Sarah Martin wrote "The Same Star," which sets the band's melodies over a Motown backbeat. It was produced by Leo Abrahams, whom the band first met in February 2016. Martin has said that meeting, together with the recording of "I'll Be Your Pilot," was the first real step toward the EP project. "We Were Beautiful" came out as a single in July 2017, with a video directed by Blair Young and filmed around Glasgow.

Collected as an album, the set reached No. 28 on the UK Albums Chart, No. 3 on the UK Independent chart and No. 6 in Scotland. In the band's catalog it falls between Girls in Peacetime Want to Dance (2015) and Days of the Bagnold Summer (2019).

Shipping Speeds & Delivery Estimates

Delivery timelines are estimates, not guarantees.

Estimated delivery windows are quoted at checkout based on the shipping speed you select and your delivery address. Transit time begins after your order has been processed.

Typical delivery within the United States ranges from 3–7 business days after shipment, depending on location and selected service. Delivery times for Canada vary by destination and carrier, and may be affected by customs processing.

While most deliveries arrive within the quoted window, occasional delays may occur due to weather, carrier volume, or other factors outside our control.

Shipping Rates

Shipping costs are calculated and displayed at checkout based on destination, package weight, and selected delivery speed.

Signature Requirements

Orders totaling over $250 may require a signature upon delivery to help ensure safe receipt. This is applied based on order value and carrier guidelines.
