Vol. I is the 2024 debut album by Angine de Poitrine. This single black LP on Spectacles Bonzaï, catalog number AP-01, is part of the June 2026 run that gave the record wide vinyl distribution for the first time, with ATO Records handling the United States. The jacket holds the disc and a printed insert.
The duo formed in Saguenay, Quebec, in 2019 and performs anonymously: Khn de Poitrine plays microtonal guitars and Klek de Poitrine plays percussion, and both add voice. Their name is the French term for angina pectoris, first suggested as a joke. The band's own Bandcamp page files the music under "mantra-rock dada pythago-cubiste."
The album credits list Gabriel Gagné Gaudreault, alias Gramofaune, on recording and Dany Lemay on mixing and mastering. Fabien Peterson designed the graphics and co-produced the record with the band. The six tracks run 32 minutes and 51 seconds, three to a side, and Tamebsz is the longest at just under eight minutes.
After Vol. I, Angine de Poitrine was named Artist of the Year at the 2025 GAMIQ awards, and in February 2026 a live session for Seattle radio station KEXP passed millions of views. The follow-up, Vol. II, won the 2026 Polaris Music Prize.
