Single LP Cut at 45 RPM

Asian Man Records issues this album as a single LP that plays at 45 RPM, catalog number AM-153, with Pirates Press named in the runout etching on both sides. Eleven songs run 25 minutes and 17 seconds across the two sides. Asian Man has repressed AM-153 many times under this one barcode since 2007, beginning with 100 copies on black vinyl and 400 on brown and continuing through a long series of colored vinyl runs.

This was the second studio album by Andrew Jackson Jihad, the Phoenix folk punk band built around Sean Bonnette and Ben Gallaty, released by Asian Man on September 11, 2007. Having worked mostly from home recordings before, the band made it with Jalipaz Nelson, who recorded and mixed it at Audioconfusion in Mesa, Arizona. Jeff Carroll mastered it at Bluefield Mastering.

The title comes from a line in Kurt Vonnegut's novel Hocus Pocus, which in turn points to Barbra Streisand's song "People." Bonnette told the Phoenix New Times the band was heavily into Vonnegut at the time of recording. Two songs borrow from older ones: "People II: The Reckoning" interpolates Simon and Garfunkel's "Mrs. Robinson," and "Survival Song" takes lyrics from Woody Guthrie's "Do Re Mi."

Bonnette sings and plays guitar and glockenspiel, Gallaty plays bass along with electric and slide guitar, John De La Cruz plays drums and Dylan Cook plays mandolin. Guest players add accordion, trumpet, violin, cello and singing saw. Ryan Piscitelli illustrated the artwork. The band has recorded as AJJ since 2016.
