Double LP Vinyl Pressing

This is the US double-vinyl issue of Venice, the debut studio album from Anderson .Paak, released on Steel Wool Records and OBE under catalog number ERE-LP-166. Sixteen tracks run across two 12-inch discs, four to a side. When copies arrived at Stones Throw Records, the label's own store news noted that the album had come out late the previous year on Steel Wool/OBE and had just been pressed on double LP.

Venice first came out on October 28, 2014, through Steel Wool, OBE and Empire Distribution. .Paak produced it alongside Lo_Def, DJ Nobody, DK the Punisher, Mikos the Gawd, Kelsey Gonzalez, Tokimonsta and Ta-Ku, and SiR guests on "Already." Speaking to Hypebeast ahead of release, .Paak described it as the first album on which he worked closely with one producer, Lo_Def. Three members of his backing band, the Free Nationals, play on the record: Jose Rios on lead guitar, Kelsey Gonzalez on acoustic and bass guitar, and Ron Avant on keyboards.

Two singles led the way. "Drugs," produced by Lo_Def, arrived on January 17, 2014, with a video directed by Mike Dempsey; "Miss Right," which .Paak produced himself, followed on October 14, 2014. Videos for "Luh You," directed by Jay Ahn, and "The City," again with Dempsey behind the camera, came in 2015.

An Oxnard, California native based in Los Angeles, .Paak had earlier recorded as Breezy Lovejoy and worked as a drummer, songwriter and producer; Stones Throw notes that his production formed much of Watsky's 2014 album All You Can Do. Venice is his first studio album. Malibu followed in January 2016.
