Cobalt Blue Vinyl LP

Now Playing is Ace Frehley's entry in Rhino's Now Playing series of colored-vinyl compilations, announced for March 7, 2025 alongside a Twisted Sister volume. This US pressing carries ten tracks on cobalt blue vinyl in a picture sleeve. It was manufactured for and marketed by Rhino under an Atlantic Recording Corporation copyright, pressed at Memphis Record Pressing, catalog number RCV1 727352.

The selection stays inside Frehley's late-1980s work after leaving Kiss. Side A opens with four songs from the 1987 album Frehley's Comet: "Rock Soldiers," co-written with Chip Taylor and partly about Frehley's April 1982 police chase in White Plains, New York; "Breakout," co-written with Kiss drummer Eric Carr; "Into the Night"; and "Calling to You." That album reached No. 43 on the Billboard 200, and "Into the Night," a Russ Ballard song, climbed to No. 27 on the Mainstream Rock chart.

"Insane," "Dancin' With Danger" and "It's Over Now" come from Second Sighting (1988) and are credited here to Frehley's Comet. The closing three are from Trouble Walkin' (1989), the record on which Frehley dropped the Comet name and went back to billing under his own.

Frehley was a founding member and the original lead guitarist of Kiss, where he created the Space Ace persona. His 1978 solo debut went platinum, and he was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame with the band in 2014. He died in October 2025.
