10-inch Mono Vinyl Mini-Album

Ace Records issues the complete recordings of 2 Of Clubs, the Cincinnati harmony duo of Linda Parrish and Patti Valentine, as an 11-track mono mini-album on 10-inch vinyl, catalog number 10CH 1679. Ace notes that this is the first time all of their recordings have been gathered in one place. Side 1 carries six songs and Side 2 five, closing on two previously unissued tracks, "I'll Come Running Over" and "He Calls Me Child," drawn from the Fraternity Records tape archive.

Parrish and Valentine met while performing at Cincinnati's Guys & Dolls nightclub, backed by the Driving Winds, a band led by Linda's husband Carl Edmondson. Fraternity Records founder Harry Carlson signed the pair, with Edmondson as their producer and manager. Their first single, a cover of Petula Clark's "Heart," was recorded at King Records' studio in Cincinnati and peaked at #125 on Billboard's national chart in October 1966.

Fraternity followed it with "Walk Tall Like A Man," a song Verdelle Smith had recorded before them, backed with "So Blue Is Fall," which Linda wrote while still in high school. The single climbed slowly, reaching #62 in Record World and, five months after release, #92 on the Billboard Hot 100.

Three more singles followed by the end of 1967, cut at RCA in Nashville, setting contemporary covers such as "River Deep - Mountain High" beside songs written by Carl and Linda. Garnet Mimms' "Look Away" became their last Fraternity release. The duo ended when Linda and Carl's marriage broke down, though Linda and Patti stayed friends and reunited on stage, including at a Cincinnati oldies festival in 1999.
