Indie Exclusive Third Man Records Edition on Opaque Yellow 180g Vinyl

U2 and Third Man Records made this edition for independent record stores. It is a 180 gram pressing on opaque yellow vinyl, housed in yellow and black packaging drawn from Third Man's own house colors, with creative direction by Gavin Friday and art direction and design by Shaughn McGrath alongside the Third Man team. The twelve songs are the same as the standard edition; the vinyl and the packaging are not.

Carnaval De Luz is U2's sixteenth studio album and their first new material in nine years. Jacknife Lee produced it, with additional production from Ryan Tedder on "Silencio." Brian Eno, who co-produced The Unforgettable Fire, The Joshua Tree and Achtung Baby, co-wrote and played synthesizers on "Go (Carnaval De Luz)," "The Greatest Show On Earth" and "Can't Stop Us Now." Martin Garrix co-wrote "Glorify," Rosalía sings on "The Mirror Maker," and Daniel Lanois plays pedal steel on "Torn."

"Torn" is a duet between Bono and Dolly Parton, written with Johnny McDaid. U2's announcement describes her part as her last recorded vocal.

U2 began in September 1976, when Larry Mullen Jr. pinned a note to the noticeboard at Mount Temple Comprehensive School in Dublin reading "Drummer Seeks Musicians To Form Band." This album marks the band's fiftieth year. The Edge calls it "a messy, provocative, sacred collection of songs," and says it carries the first use of flat-wound strings on a U2 recording.
