This T-Bird Rhythm LP is part of The Last Music Company's 2026 program of eight blue vinyl reissues, which together cover every studio album The Fabulous Thunderbirds recorded with Jimmie Vaughan on guitar, from the previously unreleased 1978 Doc Pomus sessions through Powerful Stuff in 1989. The same recordings are collected on CD in The Jimmie Vaughan Years: Complete Studio Recordings 1978-1989, and the label has announced an LP box set with that collection's 32-page book.

Released in 1982, T-Bird Rhythm was the fourth of the four studio albums that first carried the band's Austin-bred Texas blues to a wider audience. Kim Wilson sings and plays harmonica, Jimmie Vaughan plays guitar and Fran Christina plays drums, and Nick Lowe produced it.

The band's commercial breakthrough came four years later, when the title single from Tuff Enuff reached number ten on the Billboard Hot 100.
