Melodie is Slow Pulp's third album, following Moveys (2020) and Yard (2023) — a record Variety called "one of 2023's best rock records." The band — Emily Massey, Henry Stoehr, Alex Leeds and Teddy Mathews — formed in Madison, Wisconsin and is now based in Chicago.

It is the first Slow Pulp album made with an outside producer. Stoehr produced everything that came before it; here the band worked with Elliott Kozel, whose credits include Rosalía, Björk, SZA and Yves Tumor. Stoehr wrote five of the eleven songs, among them the lead single "Better Man," and has said that he and Massey "were reconnecting with how we wrote together when we first met." Leeds describes the record as carrying "the sense of a full circle, tapping back into things and transforming through them." Ben Turok directed the "Better Man" video.

The band play twenty-four North American dates between October 16 and November 21, 2026, including a hometown show at The Salt Shed in Chicago on November 19.
