Before relocating to downtown New York, Mikel Rouse led Tirez Tirez, a Kansas City group formed in the mid-1970s that bridged new wave, minimalism, and experimental pop - notable enough early on to open for Talking Heads on their 1978 tour. Story of the Year, first issued in 1982/83 on Les Disques du Crepuscule, gathers material from that transitional period, layering system-based rhythms and phase repetition within a band format. A fascinating waypoint between post-punk and contemporary composition, reissued by Numero on silver vinyl.
