* The Sound Of McAlmont and Butler - 30th Anniversary Reissue *
David McAlmont and Bernard Butler made one of the great one-off records of the Britpop years - a collision of McAlmont's soaring, gospel-schooled voice and Butler's widescreen guitar, recorded in the window just after Butler left Suede. The Sound Of McAlmont and Butler gathers their brief but luminous partnership: the singles "Yes" and "You Do," alongside the orchestral pop that made the pair sound less like a band than a small, dramatic event.
Newly remastered from the original studio tapes by George Shilling, with Butler overseeing the work. Three decades on, the songs still carry the same outsized ambition - strings, falsetto, and a guitar tone that never quite sits still.
Offered in two editions, both imported from the UK: a limited green and blue coloured 2LP, and a 2CD expanded edition that pairs the remastered album with a bonus disc of demos, single versions and sessions - including multiple takes of "Yes" and "You Do." Choose your format above.
