Originally released in August 1987, Deathcrush is Mayhem's debut EP and a founding document of the Norwegian black metal scene. Recorded at Aggressive Music Studio in Oslo with the early lineup of Maniac on vocals, Euronymous on guitar, Necrobutcher on bass, and Manheim on drums, the seven-track set runs about twenty minutes and pairs raw, thrash-edged proto-black-metal with avant-garde edges — including the Conrad Schnitzler-composed intro "Silvester Anfang."
Side A runs through the title track and "Chainsaw Gutsfuck" before side B closes with "Witching Hour," "Necrolust," "Pure Fucking Armageddon," and "(Weird) Manheim." Released on Euronymous's own Deathlike Silence Productions — the label he ran from his Oslo record shop Helvete — Deathcrush circulated as a first pressing of 1,000 copies before becoming one of the most reissued artifacts of extreme metal.
This 2026 UK import reissue arrives on Black & Red Splatter vinyl, preserving the original seven-track sequence.
