Indie Exclusive Gatefold LP
Masks Off is the sixth studio album from Jesse Welles, the Arkansas songwriter who built his audience posting topical folk songs filmed outdoors near where he was raised and still lives. It arrived digitally on June 12, 2026, following his Grammy-nominated field-recording collection Under the Powerlines II (October 24 - December 24).
Welles recorded the eleven-track album with producer Eddie Spear, best known for his work with Zach Bryan. It sets studio versions of three protest songs that had already become staples of his live set - "Join Ice," "Red," and "Domestic Error" - alongside the more inward writing of "Siddhartha," "Won't You Come Out Tonight," and "This and Not Some Other Way." The title track, released as the lead single on May 22, 2026, is the loudest thing here: a rapid-fire lyric delivered over a wall of electric guitar, written out of the I.C.E. surge in Minnesota and the political climate that followed.
This Indie Exclusive edition presses the album on a single black LP housed in a gatefold jacket, self-released, with a street date of November 27, 2026.
