Sophisticated Funk is a lost electric groover from American jazz organist and bandleader Jack McDuff, reissued on 180-gram brown vinyl. Recorded at Platinum Studios in New Jersey in 1976, it captures McDuff stepping away from his signature Hammond organ for a slinky, sweet keyboard sound, leaning hard into fusion and boogie funk.

The sessions feature full arrangements with guitar from Billy Jones (of Brother to Brother) alongside the saxophone and flute of Joe Farrell. A deep cut in McDuff's catalog and a prized find for fans of mid-'70s soul-jazz and funk, now back on heavyweight wax.
