Music on Vinyl's audiophile 180-gram reissue of Cheap Trick, the band's 1977 self-titled debut, pressed on silver coloured vinyl as a limited edition of 2000 individually numbered copies. Imported from the Netherlands.
Produced by Jack Douglas — the engineer-turned-producer best known for his Aerosmith records — the debut introduced the Rockford, Illinois quartet of Robin Zander, Rick Nielsen, Tom Petersson, and Bun E. Carlos with a rawer, more menacing edge than the power-pop polish that defined their later breakthroughs. Lead single "Oh, Candy" sits alongside live staples "He's a Whore," "ELO Kiddies," and the dirge-like "Mandocello."
The album charted briefly on the Billboard 200 — the band's first appearance there — and earned a small but devoted following before In Color and the At Budokan phenomenon expanded their audience worldwide. As a piece of vinyl trivia, the original Epic pressing labeled the two sides "A" and "1" — the band's tongue-in-cheek claim that the record had no B material.
