Bloc Party's studio return is a narrative album that traces a single year-long relationship in intimate, often unsparing detail. The English band - Kele Okereke, Russell Lissack, Louise Bartle and Harry Deacon - recorded it with producer Trevor Horn, and it arrives after their heaviest stretch of touring in two decades, from a sold-out Crystal Palace Park to a return to Reading & Leeds. Two decades on from the debut Silent Alarm, the group keeps reworking its sound rather than repeating it.
