Enhanced CD
This is Warner's CD of Meteora, catalog number 48186-2, with the album's 13 tracks in their original order from "Foreword" to "Numb." It is an enhanced disc: alongside the audio it carries computer content, including "The Art of Meteora" and a website toolkit. Linkin Park's own store sells this barcode as the album's CD.
Meteora is Linkin Park's second studio album, produced by the band with Don Gilmore and named after the Greek Orthodox monasteries of Meteora. Writing began in early 2001, while the band was still touring Hybrid Theory, and the sessions took almost a year. It is the first Linkin Park studio album with bassist Dave "Phoenix" Farrell, who rejoined in 2000. The opening of "Somewhere I Belong" began as a guitar part Chester Bennington recorded; Mike Shinoda and Joe Hahn added effects, reversed it and cut it into four pieces to build the intro.
Warner Bros. Records released the album on March 25, 2003. It debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 with more than 810,000 copies sold in its first week and is certified eight times platinum by the RIAA. "Somewhere I Belong," "Faint," "Numb," "From the Inside" and "Breaking the Habit" were released as singles, and the instrumental "Session" was nominated for Best Rock Instrumental Performance at the 46th Grammy Awards. The video above is "Numb."
