Coke Bottle Clear Vinyl LP

This is American Recordings' official vinyl repressing of Danzig's third album, issued on October 2, 2026 as title number 100 in the Record Store Day Essentials series. The single LP is pressed on coke bottle clear, standard weight vinyl and housed in a standard jacket with printed inner sleeves.

Danzig III: How the Gods Kill first appeared in July 1992 on Def American Recordings and was the band's highest-charting album at the time. Glenn Danzig produced it with Rick Rubin, Jason Corsaro mixed it, and Howie Weinberg mastered it. The lineup was Glenn Danzig on vocals and keyboards, John Christ on guitars, Eerie Von on bass and Chuck Biscuits on drums.

Christ has said a great deal of time went into the guitar sounds, and for the quieter passages of "Anything," "Sistinas" and the title track he played a Stratocaster previously used by Jeff Beck. "Sistinas" itself came together in an hour or two during a break from drum tracking. Willie Dixon had agreed to guest on "Heart of the Devil" but died before the session was scheduled.

The cover is H. R. Giger's 1976 painting Meister und Margeritha, named after Mikhail Bulgakov's novel The Master and Margarita, which Giger altered for the sleeve by adding a dagger bearing his version of the Danzig skull. "Dirty Black Summer" was the first single, with a video directed by Anton Corbijn; Glenn Danzig directed the clips for "How the Gods Kill," "Bodies" and "Sistinas." AllMusic called the record "arguably the definitive Danzig album."
