The complete twenty-four-cue program on one disc, in a digipak whose panels use artwork adapted from the digital release. Twelve of these pieces appear nowhere on the vinyl edition: "Key," "Door," "Death," "Oxygène," "Équinoxe," "Chris," "Thirteen," "Excuse," "Dog," "Beginning," "Droopy Likes Ricochet" and "Droopy Likes Your Face." The disc runs 58:52.

Minecraft's music began as a self-release: Daniel Rosenfeld, recording as C418, put the album on Bandcamp on 4 March 2011, and it existed only as a download for four years before Ghostly International built the physical editions in 2015.

Kotaku placed it among the best game music of 2011, calling the writing "remarkably soothing." It was later nominated for Top Dance/Electronic Album at the 2022 Billboard Music Awards, certified gold by the RIAA in December 2023, and inducted into the Library of Congress National Recording Registry in April 2025.
