Stan Ricker prepared that master for the album's first vinyl issue in 2007 under catalog number 131388-1, and Nonesuch's 2020 repress carries the same matrix in its runouts. Turntable Lab notes the 2020 run was the set's first time on vinyl since 2007. A fold-out insert holds the lyrics and a grid of band portraits.

Sky Blue Sky, Wilco's sixth studio album, was released by Nonesuch on May 15, 2007, and was the band's first studio record with guitarist Nels Cline and multi-instrumentalist Pat Sansone. Produced by Wilco and recorded by TJ Doherty at the band's Loft in Chicago, it was mixed by Jim Scott at PLYRZ Studios and mastered by Robert C. Ludwig at Gateway Mastering, with string arrangements by Jim O'Rourke. It entered the Billboard 200 at No. 4 on first-week sales of 87,000 copies, the band's best sales week to that point.

Tweedy has said he wanted "Either Way" to open the record on an idea of acceptance. Side A closes on the nearly six-minute "Impossible Germany," the track Nonesuch's own notes point to for its room to jam.
