It is cut to a single 12-inch, 140-gram disc, three songs to a side, and comes with a printed inner sleeve.

The jacket art came out of the band's 2024 Solid Sound Festival, where attendees were invited to make a cover for the record. The Wilco store notes that the winning design, picked from hundreds of entries, was the work of Clementine, a three-year-old festival-goer. Kathleen Ryan is also credited for artwork, and Stacy Wakefield-Forte for design.

The songs grew out of the sessions for Wilco's 2023 album Cousin. Jeff Tweedy went back to material recorded there but left unfinished and completed it with engineer and mixer Tom Schick. The recordings were made at The Loft in Chicago between January 2019 and May 2023. Cate Le Bon plays bass and Korg Delta synthesizer on "Hot Sun" and shares its production credit, Matt Combs adds strings to the same track, and Pekka Kuusisto plays violin on "Say You Love Me." Bob Ludwig handled the mastering.

Tweedy has described the set as having a "summertime-after-dark kind of feeling," opening in the heat of the day and closing on a cooling breeze. The EP first appeared digitally on June 28, 2024, the opening day of Solid Sound at MASS MoCA in North Adams, Massachusetts, and was released on vinyl and CD that November. Paste made it a Pick with a 9.0 rating, and Pitchfork scored it 8.0.

Tracklist

Side A

Hot Sun

Livid

Ice Cream

Side B

Annihilation

Inside The Bell Bones

Say You Love Me

UPC: 051497439569
Label: Sony Legacy
Release Date: 11.29.24
Format: Vinyl

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0718/8801/1422/files/WILM77-LP_29beb571-e5d0-4e23-825e-80d7fa01e171.png?v=1791479087
