weezer-weezer-green-album-cd
Weezer - Weezer (Green Album) (CD)

Single CD in Jewel Case

This is the US compact disc of Weezer's third studio album, issued by Geffen Records on May 15, 2001, with catalog number 069493045-2 printed on the disc face. It was the first Weezer album packaged with a transparent CD tray, and the word "No" is printed on the tray card beneath it.

Ric Ocasek, who produced the band's 1994 debut, returned to produce it. The ten songs were recorded at Cello Studios in Los Angeles in December 2000, mixed by Tom Lord-Alge at South Beach Studios in Miami, and mastered by Vlado Meller at Sony Music Studios in New York. Mikey Welsh, who had replaced original bassist Matt Sharp, plays bass on his only studio album with the band. Like that debut, the record is self-titled, and it has been called the Green Album ever since to keep the two apart.

The album debuted at No. 4 on the Billboard 200. Rivers Cuomo pushed for "Hash Pipe" as the first single, and it reached No. 2 on Billboard's Modern Rock Tracks chart. "Island in the Sun," a song Ocasek argued to keep on the album, followed and reached No. 11 on the same chart, and "Photograph" was the third single.

Chris Bilheimer handled art direction, with photographs by Marina Chavez and Karl Koch. The cover stands the four members against a flat lime-green field, and the full-color band photo inside the front insert adds silhouettes in the style of Mystery Science Theater 3000. The whole program runs a little over 28 minutes, roughly a third of what the disc can hold.

Tracklist

Don't Let Go (2:59)

Photograph (2:19)

Hash Pipe (3:06)

Island In The Sun (3:20)

Crab (2:34)

Knock-Down Drag-Out (2:08)

Smile (2:38)

Simple Pages (2:56)

Glorious Day (2:40)

O Girlfriend (3:49)

UPC: 606949304522
Label: Interscope Records
Release Date: 5.15.01
Format: CD

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0718/8801/1422/files/3000x3000bb_68f724bd-eac5-414b-b314-042bcde23e65.jpg?v=1791408539
