The twelve songs run six to a side, and the record comes in a standard jacket with a 12x12 printed insert. More than one run has shipped under this barcode: Discogs documents a 2016 cut by Direct Metal Mastering at Abbey Road Mastering Studios, pressed at RTI, and a later run pressed at Precision Record Pressing.

Make Believe is Weezer's fifth studio album, first released by Geffen in May 2005 and produced by Rick Rubin. Its making stretched across nearly three years, with sessions at Cello Studios, Grandmaster Recorders and Henson Studios in Los Angeles between December 2003 and early 2005. Rubin shaped the writing as well as the sound: asked for a Billy Joel or Elton John type of song, Rivers Cuomo came back with "Haunt You Every Day," the first song he wrote entirely on piano. Cuomo also said the album's title came to him while meditating.

"Beverly Hills" led the album as its first single and earned Weezer their first Grammy nomination, for Best Rock Song. Make Believe entered the Billboard 200 at No. 2 on first-week sales of 193,000 copies and reached No. 11 on the UK Albums Chart. Weezer archivist Karl Koch wrote in 2007 that it had passed one million copies sold.

A detail for collectors: the album was corrected after its first CD run, when the band swapped in the intended take of "We Are All on Drugs." The vinyl editions never received that fix, so this LP carries the earlier take, which differs from the corrected CD in two lines of lyrics.

The cover follows the pattern set by the Blue and Green albums, with the four members standing in a row against black, here set over illustrations by Carson Ellis. Art direction and design are by Francesca Restrepo.

Tracklist

Side A

Beverly Hills

Perfect Situation

This Is Such A Pity

Hold Me

Peace

We Are All On Drugs

Side B

The Damage In Your Heart

Pardon Me

My Best Friend

The Other Way

Freak Me Out

Haunt You Every Day

UPC: 602547945440
Label: Geffen Records
Release Date: 10.28.16
Format: Vinyl
