Greene wrote, recorded and produced the record on his own, and longtime collaborator Ben H. Allen mixed it in Atlanta. Sub Pop's notes connect the title to Purple Noon, the 1960 René Clément film adapted from Patricia Highsmith's novel.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\"Face Up\" was the first song out, in April 2018, as part of Adult Swim's Singles Series. \"Too Late\" followed in April 2020, and \"Time to Walk Away\" was released on June 30, 2020, the day Sub Pop announced the album. Harold \"HB\" Brown plays drums on five tracks, Dylan Lee plays acoustic guitar on \"Game of Chance\", and the sleeve uses photography by Blair Greene and design by Lanning Sally, with art direction by Ernest Greene.
