It comes as two 140-gram black LPs in a gatefold jacket. The fourteen songs run across three sides, and the fourth side carries a Crow etching in place of grooves.

The set first came back to vinyl as a limited colored-vinyl release for Record Store Day 2019, etching included. The Rocktober run keeps the etched fourth side and moves the discs to black.

Atlantic first released the album on March 29, 1994. It reached No. 1 on the Billboard 200, has sold 3.8 million copies in the United States and is certified 3x Platinum by the RIAA.

Much of the record was made for the film. The Cure wrote "Burn" for it, and Medicine re-recorded "Time Baby II" as "Time Baby III" with guest vocals from Elizabeth Fraser of Cocteau Twins. Jane Siberry co-wrote "It Can't Rain All the Time" with the film's composer, Graeme Revell. Rage Against the Machine reworked their 1993 B-side "Darkness of Greed" into "Darkness," and My Life with the Thrill Kill Kult re-recorded "Nervous Xians" as "After the Flesh"; they are also the band onstage in the film's nightclub scene. Stone Temple Pilots had planned to re-record an early demo, "Only Dying," and submitted "Big Empty" instead after Brandon Lee was accidentally killed on set during production.

The covers point back to the source material. Nine Inch Nails take on Joy Division's "Dead Souls," Pantera cover Poison Idea's "The Badge" and Rollins Band cover Suicide's "Ghost Rider." James O'Barr, who created the comic, reprinted lyrics from the Cure's "The Hanging Garden" across a full page and named chapters after Joy Division songs.

Tracklist

Side A

The Cure - Burn

Machines of Loving Grace - Golgotha Tenement Blues

Stone Temple Pilots - Big Empty

Nine Inch Nails - Dead Souls

Rage Against the Machine - Darkness

Side B

Violent Femmes - Color Me Once

Rollins Band - Ghostrider

Helmet - Milktoast

Pantera - The Badge

For Love Not Lisa - Slip Slide Melting

Side C

My Life with the Thrill Kill Kult - After the Flesh

The Jesus and Mary Chain - Snakedriver

Medicine - Time Baby III

Jane Siberry - It Can't Rain All the Time

Side D

Crow etching (no audio)

UPC: 603497846146
Label: Atlantic
Release Date: 10.30.20
Format: Vinyl

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0718/8801/1422/files/czM6Ly9tZXJjaGJhci1pbWFnZXMvcHJvZHVjdC9jcm9wLzE2MTYvMTkzNDc2NC9VOFEwUDAtMTcyNDc4MzA5Ni0xMjgweDEyODAtMTcyNDc4MzA5MC1waG90b18yMDI0LTA4LTI3XzE0LTE4LTMwLmpwZw.webp?v=1791193168
https://evergreenvinyl.com/products/various-artists-the-crow-original-motion-picture-soundtrack-rocktober-vinyl
