That made it the band's first chart-topper, and the 12th independently distributed album to reach the top spot since Nielsen SoundScan began tracking sales in 1991. Recording ran from 2008 into 2009 at studios in Brooklyn, Manhattan and Mexico City, and Emily Lazar mastered it.
