It is issued on Sham, and Thirty Tigers handles marketing and distribution.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eThe album came out in August 2026, forty years after the band's debut, \u003cem\u003eThe Bunkhouse Album\u003c\/em\u003e, and six years after \u003cem\u003eXOXO\u003c\/em\u003e. Bob Ezrin produced it, his first record with The Jayhawks since \u003cem\u003eSmile\u003c\/em\u003e in 2000, and it was recorded at the Canterbury Music Company in Toronto with Canadian engineers. \"I love their music. There is gentleness and a sweetness to their sound, and I found myself craving a little bit more of that,\" Ezrin said.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eGary Louris sings and plays guitar and wrote the songs, two of them as co-writes, including \"Mr. Lincoln\" with Emerson Hart of Tonic. Karen Grotberg plays keyboards, Marc Perlman bass and mandolin, and Tim O'Reagan drums. Todd Lumley adds accordion and harmonium, Mike Johnson plays pedal steel, and Ezrin plays ukulele on one track.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eThe title comes from a real park in Dundas, Ontario, and the title song tells the story of the Ontario childhood of Louris's wife, Stephanie. Louris became a permanent resident of Canada through their marriage, and \"American Midnight\" looks at his home country from there.
