Jordan has said that while writing it she found herself fixating on death and what happens after, and that she tried to move past the heartbreak material of her earlier records: "Misery feels safe to write about because I am good at it, but I'm not bathing in my own agony anymore." She made the album with Aron Kobayashi Ritch, bassist and producer of the band Momma, who produced, engineered and mixed it. "I felt like an equal voice," Jordan has said of the sessions. Recording took place at the Fidelitorium in Kernersville, North Carolina, at Studio G in Greenpoint and at The Nightfly in Bushwick, with Ritch supplying amplifiers from his own collection, among them a 1970s tweed Fender Princeton and a Vox AC30.

Alex Bass plays bass and Ray Brown plays drums. Jordan wrote string arrangements with Ritch and Rohan Chander, and the Metropolis Ensemble plays strings on four songs, the title track among them. "Dead End," "My Maker" and "Tractor Beam" were released as singles ahead of the album. The video above is "Tractor Beam," the opening track, which Jordan has described as being about "feeling othered while acknowledging that you're spending a lot of your time and energy figuring out how to float away." Ricochet holds a Metacritic score of 71 from fourteen reviews and reached No. 27 on the UK Independent Albums chart.

Tracklist

Side A

Tractor Beam

My Maker

Light On Our Feet

Cruise

Agony Freak

Side B

Dead End

Butterfly

Nowhere

Hell

Ricochet

Reverie

UPC: 191401220910
Label: Matador Records
Release Date: 3.27.26
Format: Vinyl

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0718/8801/1422/files/SnailMail_Ricochet_LP_front_2400x2400_e24d726d-20fa-40e7-802f-cf6726495e82.jpg?v=1791877339
