It was one of the limited 45s Adams released through PAX-AM that year. The physical run sold out quickly, and the songs went to streaming afterward.

The title song is on side A. Adams' own notes describe it as a reflection on an old New York love lost, and say it was a song he always felt was special but that never fit on any record. Those notes credit Marshall on drums and Adams on guitar and everything else.

Side B has two more songs. "Cop City" grew out of the never-released Alien USA album experiment, from a session Adams cut with Mike Viola and drummer Jeremy Stacey. In Adams' telling, it is about the last weekend of every month in Los Angeles, when the police are out writing tickets and all he wants is to reach his pinball spot. "Look In The Mirror" is a self-recorded track that, by his account, was finished too late to go on 1984.

The sleeve credits say all three songs were recorded and mixed at Pax-Am Studios in Hollywood. In the PAX-AM series, this single came after I Do Not Feel Like Being Good and before Willow Lane. The runouts are etched PAXAM-046-A and PAXAM-046-B.

Tracklist

Side A

Burn In The Night

Side B

Cop City

Look In The Mirror

UPC: 811790022529
Label: Pax Americana
Release Date: 6.23.15
Format: 7" Vinyl

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0718/8801/1422/files/ryanadams-burninthenight_d6e4f786-bbc9-4637-b263-1c1f43b2d48d.jpg?v=1791691682
