Side A runs from \"Speak to Me\" through \"The Great Gig in the Sky,\" and side B opens with \"Money,\" heard in its 2023 remaster in the video above.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eThe band recorded the album at EMI Studios, now Abbey Road Studios, in about 60 days between May 31, 1972, and February 9, 1973, with staff engineer Alan Parsons. Roger Waters conceived it around the pressures of the band's working life and the mental health problems of former member Syd Barrett. Session singer Clare Torry, recruited by Parsons, is the voice on \"The Great Gig in the Sky.\"\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eCapitol released it in the United States on March 1, 1973, and Harvest in the UK on March 16. It topped the US Billboard chart, where it has spent 996 weeks, and is certified 14 times platinum in the UK. Storm Thorgerson of Hipgnosis designed the prism sleeve, which George Hardie drew.
