The release carries all 30 tracks of the show, mixed by Jon Altschiller from the band's original 2-inch 24-track reels. Tickets cost $22.50 and the show sold out. The band had spent the fall recording Hoist, their fifth studio album, released in March 1994.

The stage for the entire four-show 1993 holiday run was an aquarium, complete with seaweed, rocks, swimming fish and a giant clam, built by Chris McGregor and J.W. Nickel of Rocket Science. The show ran three sets and an encore. According to the liner notes, as midnight approached the clam rose off the stage and shook through the countdown to 1994; the band returned with "Auld Lang Syne," leading into the first "Down With Disease" jam. "Peaches en Regalia" was played for Frank Zappa, who had died that December, and Tom Marshall sang on "Run Like An
