The obi strip reads "Dark-Side Mixes, Limited Edition Neon Violet Vinyl," and Real World's catalogue number PGLPXN24 is printed on the record label. Alliance lists the color as neon purple; the packaging calls it violet.

All thirteen songs exist in two stereo mixes. Blake took the Dark-Side across the album with one exception: Mike Elizondo mixed "Who Are We Talking To?" Mark "Spike" Stent handled the Bright-Side, which is a separate release. A third version, Hans-Martin Buff's Dolby Atmos In-Side mix, is digital only; Buff won a Grammy for his immersive work on i/o.

o\\i follows i/o by three years, Gabriel's shortest gap between studio albums since the early 1980s. He put out one song from it on every full moon of 2026, each one answered a fortnight later by its opposite mix on the new moon.

Brian Eno plays on the album, as do guitarists Leo Nocentelli and Tony Berg, drummer Abe Rounds, pianist Tom Cawley, trumpeter Paolo Fresu, cellist Linnea Olsson and multi-instrumentalist Evan Smith; Gabriel's daughter Melanie sings on it, and John Metcalfe leads the New Blood Orchestra. Most of the recording was done at Real World Studios and at Gabriel's home studio.

As on the previous record, every song comes with a commissioned artwork. The media run from painting and sculpture to installation, embroidery and weaving, and one piece was co-authored with spiders.

The album widens the themes of its companion: our relationship with nature, the passing of time, technology's growing hold and where a person sits in the world. "Trying to get a handle on where you fit in life," Gabriel says, "that's what I write about a lot."

Tracklist

Disc 1, Side A

Been Undone

Put the Bucket Down

What Lies Ahead

Till Your Mind Is Shining

Disc 1, Side B

Won't Stand Down

Who Are We Talking To?

Yes, It Will Go

Disc 2, Side C

One by One

A Hard Lesson

Face the Wall

Disc 2, Side D

I Belong to the Sky

Looking for the Happy

Sacrament

Complete the Collection

5 Peter Gabriel titles at Evergreen Vinyl:

Peter Gabriel 2: Scratch

Peter Gabriel 3: Melt

Peter Gabriel 4: Security

Long Walk Home

*** Indie Exclusive ***
UPC: 884108020265
Label: Real World Prod.
