(RTI) and housed in a tip-on jacket. A double-sided insert titled "Reel To Real: Syncopated Rewind" comes with the record, and the labels and spine carry the catalog number BT-85133.

Blue Note recorded the set at the Montreux Jazz Festival on July 14, 1986, and issued it the following year as Petrucciani's second album for the label, after his debut Pianism. David Rubinson produced the original release. The program divides two ways. Petrucciani and guitarist Jim Hall play as a duo on Hall's "Careful" and Duke Ellington's "In A Sentimental Mood," and Wayne Shorter joins them for his own "Limbo," Petrucciani's "Morning Blues" and Hall's "Bimini." Shorter is on tenor saxophone for "Limbo" and moves to soprano for "Morning Blues."

The title came from Shorter as well. Petrucciani later recalled that the saxophonist, a science-fiction reader, had been reading a book called Power Of Three and decided the name fit the group.

The original CD ran to seven tracks, adding Hall's "Waltz New" and the standard "Beautiful Love." This edition follows the five-song vinyl sequence: three performances on side A, two on side B.

Tracklist

Side A

Limbo

Careful

Morning Blues

Side B

In A Sentimental Mood

Bimini

UPC: 602465019704
Label: Blue Note Records
Release Date: 7.3.26
Format: Vinyl
